Our training methods are natural and they work!

This is our 5 year old Standardbred
mare Jolie.  We've had her since she
was 6 months old and she is trained to
ride.  However, she's going through
her "teenage" years and needs a
refresher course.
We decided to back to basics.  It all
comes back to getting on the bit and
collection.  Here, Jolie is getting used
to the side reins again and playing with
the bit.  She's not fighting and this is a
good sign!
We weren't planning on the rain, but when you're on a roll you just keep going
Send your horse to a trainer who cares!
I'm trying to drive her forward a little so
she'll start to use her hindquarters
more.  Standardbreds can tend to be
very much on the forehand.  Collection
and roundness takes time but it'll come!
Unfortunately, we got a little bit wet
during this session.  We don't really
have impulsion yet, but there is slack
in the side reins which means Jolie is
accepting them nicely.

This is my personal baby and she is a little bit spoiled!
We always
make some
time for lots of
rubbing and
loving after a
successful

session.  It's
especially
important with
the babies!
Our teenager
is doing great
and
responding
beautifully!
Jolie's refresher course has gone beautifully.  She is now giving trail rides and riding
lessons.  She needs a little more finishing, but she is trustworthy and safe.  She is being
ridden by beginners and we hope to start working her over jumps soon.  She is a little
lazy, but willing.
