Training Techniques

Most of the techniques used on
Mandalay in these videos are
straight from Clinton Anderson's
training books.  His famous
expression "two eyes are better
than two feet" is one of the
reasons why we work on
disengaging his hindquarters.  We
always want our horse to turn and
face us.

We like distractions while we train.
Our horses need to get used to
barking dogs, etc.  When we take
them out into the real world, there
will be lots of things to "spook"
them and if we can expose them to
it in the round pen first...all the
better!

The use of side reins is important
to teach our horse to collect and
get on the bit.

UPDATE:  Mandalay Bey has
graduated and has been sold to a
family in Argyle, Texas.  He will be
starting his career as a hunter
jumper and we look forward to
receiving updates from his owners.
Mandalay Bey is missed by all of us at the stable.  He was a pleasure to work with and
just a fun horse to have around.  He is an AHA registered gelding out of "Versace" and
"Magniffique".  You couldn't ask for better breeding.  His new owners are delighted with
him and have already fallen in love!  Please visit the
AHA web site to read more about
the Arabian breed and their versatility.  You might want to consider an Arabian for your
next horse!
